Storyline... (Accepted)

It was night, in the quiet a dim witted rabbit came out of hiding slowly, A pair of green eyes shone in the night. Suddenly a black fox pounced and snapped the rabbits neck, killing it instantly. The fox picked up the rabbit and took it back to camp.

A second fox came out of the shadows. "You got all of the prey for the night? Do I need to get some more?"

The black vixen shook her head, "No. We hunt what we can during the night." She motioned towards the horizon, "It's almost dawn, we wont have time."
A group of young pups ran over, "Kiba! Kiba! What can we eat?" They chanted in unison.
Kiba scowled at them, "Elders are fed first! You know the rules!" the pups looked down, "But we're hungry." They complained. Kiba growled, "Tough it out!"

One of the pups challenged her, "Why do we have to eat last?"
Kiba turned to the pup, the others whispering between each other. Kiba walked over and bit the pup's ear, "You dare challenge the leader?!"
The pup cowards quickly, knowing it did a wrong thing. "No ma'am." He replied quickly.
Kiba snorted, "Now go back to your mother's."
They all nodded and bolted back to the safety of their parents.

"Cubs," Noctis said to Kiba, "Are always doing things that'll get them killed, aren't they? I wouldn't mind knocking some sense into them, but I was like that too when I was that age."

Kiba replied, "yes, young but foolish. Their mouths are bigger then their brains."
She picked up the rabbit and walked over to the elders. Placing it on the ground, she waited patiently for the elders to come out and eat. As they did so Kiba counted their heads, "5...7... Wait!" She walked over to one and asked, "Where's nightingale?"
"Your mother?" He asked slowly. Kiba nodded.
"She... isn't with us any more... Now she is with your father."
Kiba looked at him, sorrow filled her eyes. She nodded her head slowly and walked into the nest shrouded in branches, She walked over towards a limp black motionless body.

She tried to show no expression, she leaned over the body, "Mother? Mother." She gently pushed her body with her nose. "Wake up." She tried again, then she cried out loud. She began sobbing, "Mother! Come back!"

Noctis watched the scene with dismay. "It...It's alright...She's in a good place now." Noctis murmured, trying to keep himself from crying.

Kiba dragged the body out, the elders cleared the way, Kiba slowly and solemnly walked down towards the center of the camp. She barked loudly, "Everyone! Meeting! NOW!"
the foxes began to gather.

Noctis chose to sit in a spot close to the front. 'If the cubs get mad at me, oh well. I'm not in the mood to argue right now.'

A big burly fox sat next to him, he concentrated on Kiba mainly. She looked around then began, "Our eldest leader has left us! But we mustn't mourn over this but celebrate her life with us... I was only yesterday in Nightingale's footsteps, a co-leader, but now... I am the official leader of our clan, and I am still to elect a co-leader of my own." She looked down at the others, I call forward Nightshadow and Noctis to come up here." The bulky fox sat up straighter hearing his name but was shocked when he heared Noctis's name called.

"That is all." She ended and the others cleared, Nightshadow stayed where he was.

Noctis came up to Kiba in surprise. "Yes? Do you actually mean to..." Noctis drifted off.

Kiba looked between the two, "I called you both here because I didn't want a riot to come through by saying my decision was made... Nightshadow, You have been a good and close friend of mine. I commend you on your skills and input to our pack."
Nightshadow nodded, "Yes, Helping out was everything I know."
Kiba nodded, "However! Noctis has been just an apprentice to our pack, you have worked hard to remain in this pack and I too commend you on your input."
Nightshadow glared at him, Kiba continued, "I have decided that... Noctis is to be the next co-leader."

Nightshadow's jaw dropped, "But, he hasn't known you for as long as I have."
"I'm sure he can help anyway."
"But... he wasn't royally born like you! I have been helping your family for moons!"
Kiba snapped, "Enough! My decision and word is final!" Nightshadow stopped.

Kiba looked at Noctis, "Noctis, you have been elected as co-leader, go back to your hut and pack your things." she got up to leave, "You will be accompanying me to dinner and you will be sleeping in the silver tent."

((The silver tent is basically a hut where royalty and the highest reputation stay, It is a great honor.))

Noctis walked with Kiba in shock. "Me? Are you sure I'm cut out for the job? Isn't sir big and scary more appropriate for being co-leader?"

Kiba nodded, "Yes, Nightshadow is indeed good with intimidation and more fit but... If he takes over when I'm gone... I fear for the worse. And besides, I wouldn't want another argument like that for saying no to you." She reached the elders and picked up the remainders she carried it to the silver tent placing it on the ground. There was plenty of meat left. the mother's either had a pup or was going to have one came out to join in the food.

Kiba teared off some for herself.

"Thank you then, Kiba. I am honored that you would think that I'll make a good leader someday. Though, I hope that day never comes." Noctis said as he teared off a piece as well.

Nodded, "To me, your an honest shadowfox who tries to keep out of trouble, but there is just some spark in you." She looked at the fox pups, hungry and looking at the rabbit carcass longingly, Kiba tossed the carcass towards them and they all dug in to the remaining bones and skin. She began to eat, "It's tradition that the co-leader dines with royalty." She paused, a tear trickled down her muzzle as memories of her mother telling her that reappeared, She only just lost her father several weeks ago due to foxes hunting in their territory.

She continued, "Nightgale... she taught me everything, the rules, traditions and one there is but we haven't dealt with."
She looked at him, "You need to come with me when we bury her, She needs a hero's burial, one of our rescuers, who saved us from foxes the first time. Will you do this for me? With me?"

((Once again a great honor and tradition, oohhh is Nightshadow going to be jealous! ))

"Yes, I would be honored to. I will help you give her the proper- no, the BEST burial that you could ask for." Noctis told Kiba.

Kiba nodded, her eyes indicating sorrow, She pushed her food to Noctis, "Here... I'm not hungry." She got up and left, walking towards her hut, in the center of camp, her tail dragging slightly, she sat on the ground, glancing up at the stars as daylight began to seep through the darkness.

Noctis quickly finished eating the leftovers and followed Kiba out. He stared at the other shadowfox, waiting for directions.

Kiba sniffed the air then her ears pricked up, She turned to Noctis quickly, fear shrouding her face. She then whispered, "Intruders." As if she expected him to do anything, she then got up, trying to remain as calm as she could, "Nightshadow!" She called, he ran over, picking up on the emergency in her voice, "What's wrong?"
"Intruders!" She hissed, then looking at the horizon picked out some red and white fur.

She called out to the other foxes, "Everyone! This is urgent! All pups, mothers and elders stay in your huts! All others come here quickly!"

The camp was active with foxes, some running in panic, others confused as to what was happening. Several foxes came over, "What is going on?" One asked.
"We are under attack, Nightshadow! I want you to lead the fight party. Noctis! I want you to help out! Go with Nightshadow to attack the first fox you find! I'll trail behind everyone until I attack, No one attack before I, Noctis and Nightshadow give the signal."

She then waited for Nightshadow, he nodded, "Alright flea bitten maggots! Lets show these foxes who is boss!" They all growled in unison then took off after him.

Noctis nodded and followed Nightshadow. The first fox he saw was a fox a little older than him, male. Noctis brought out his claws and bared his fangs. Before the other could react, he bit the normal fox's fur, letting the toxins in his fangs sink into the other. The fox slowly stopped moving, and dropped dead.

Nightshadow didn't lunge at the nearest fox yet, he looked at Kiba awaiting for the signal and she flicked her tail. Nightshadow then called out the signal and the area became a huge brawl. Nightshadow attached himself to a pinkey orange fox, female and the scent told him she lead the hunting party. Kiba jumped at a silver fox which had a white patch on their right eye, male and he was one of the toughest foxes, indicating he was leader.

Some of the others attacked the foxes that were the biggest threat. One vixen, white with black stripes, green eyes and bites on her ear, chucked off a huge attacked before lunging in and nipping his heels, he ran away yelping.

Noctis continued attacking every fox close to him. Jump, bite, and jump again. The enemies numbers around him slowly dwindled.

Foxes bolted away yelping leaving the one fox that Kiba was fighting. Nightshadow took a step to help her but she barked, "No! Retreat! Go back! I'll be fine!"
Dixy, Silvermoon and some of the others looked at Nightshadow for his orders. He remained silent and watched as Kiba continued to wrestle with the fox, kicking his stomach and biting his neck until he cried out. Nightshadow reluctantly barked, "Nightfoxes! Come!" He ran towards camp then paused as the other foxes ran past him.

Kiba isn't with them, she wants to finish off her enemy with some serious wounds. Nightshadow waited behind the pack before he ran away. They reached the camp very quickly. Silvermoon walked over to Dixy and they both solemnly nodded in silence and respect. Silvermoon then touched Dixy's wounds gingerly and Dixy winced a little as she applied some special oil.

Silvermoon then nimbly ran to Nightshadow's side, but he had no injuries and sent her away with a nasty snarl. She quickly tended to the other's wounds and finally reached Noctis to see if he had any injuries.
